This stimulating new class takes kids on a journey through the wonderful world of literature.  Each week we will read a book whose story and illustrations will inspire a project related to plot and illustrations of that book.  Beginning reading, comprehension and writing skills are all a part of this fun experiential class.  New stories are read each session.

 

 Monthly Journeys in Art                                        Grades: 3-6

Join us once a month for an art 'journey'.  Projects might include aboriginal dreametime paintings, Asian woodblock prints and American quilt art.  We will use a wide variety of artistic mediums and explore concepts such as line, pattern, symmetry, design and cultural symbolism.  Music from the regions we visit will be played in class for inspiration.

Students will explore a variety of materials, including acrylic paint, charcoal, pencil, clay, pastels and more.  Projects will include still life drawing, self-portraits, and a variety of abstract and sculptural work.  Students will 
learn a variety of concepts including color theory, perspective, horizon line, design and use of patterns in art.
